because 详解

A: Why can't you do it now?

B: Because I'm too busy.
  • It is because he is foolish.
  • I didn't buy it because it was too expensive.

  • It is because he is honest that we like him.
because of

详见 “because 与 because of 的区别" 。

not...because...

I didn't go [because I was afraid].

I didn't [go because I was afraid].

just修饰后

  • You shouldn't get angry just because some people speak ill of you.
  • He was not ready to believe something just because Aristotle said so.

  • The reason why he can't come is that he is tired.

Because it was raining, we stayed at home.

正: It was raining, so we stayed at home.

误: Because it was raining, so we stayed at home.

because 与 because of 的区别

because

  • I didn't buy it because it was too expensive.

It is because he loves you.

because of

  • He is here because of you (that).
  • He lost his job because of his age.
  • He couldn't come because of illness.
  • We said nothing about it, because of his wife's being there.
  • He knew she was crying because of what he had said.

He didn't come because of he was ill.

误:He didn't come because of that he was ill.

正:He didn't come because he was ill.

正:He didn't come because of his illness.

  • It is just because of money.
  • That was because of his sickness.

because、since、as、for 有何区别

  • As he wasn't ready in time, we went without him.
  • Since we have no money, it's no good thinking about a holiday.

  • The ground is wet, [for/because] it rained last night.
  • It must have rained last night, for the ground is wet this morning.

  • I didn't go to work because I came down with the flu.
  • Poor old Wally is creeping at a snail's gallop because his car has a flat tire.
  • He is annoying, because he is always arguing for the sake of argument.
  • Because we have so much to choose from, many companies and stores offer advice about what we should eat.
  • This new sports car sells at a premium because so many people want to buy it.
  • I do hope so because I want you to live as long and healthy a life as I have.
  • The bottom line is that you have to go to the meeting because no one else can.
  • All his life, Edward felt that people looked down on him because he was born on the wrong side of the blanket.
  • Billy is cranky because he's cutting teeth.
  • I told John to brace up because things would probably get worse before they got better.

as + adv. + as + sth.

adv. 像...

like 与 as 的区别

  • Like me, she enjoys all kinds of music.
  • She enjoys all kinds of music, as I do.

  • Nobody understands him [like/as] I do.

  • He worked as a slave.
  • He worked like a slave.
  • She worked as a teacher for many years.
  • Our doctor always talks to me like a teacher talking to a child.

  • He ate like a beast.
  • She can eat like a horse and never put on weight.

  • He used his umbrella as a weapon.
  • Please don't use that knife as a screwdriver.

  • Estimates for the losses in the earthquake range as high as $2 billion
  • as late as yesterday she was fine
  • I hope this airplane wasn't jumbled together as badly as this meal.
  • I'll be with you as soon as I chuck down this hamburger.
  • The two boys set to almost as soon as they met each other.
  • estimates of the city's loss on that job ranged as high as a million dollars
  • Get working as soon as the sun rises!
