  • As I waited at the stop, I heard a big noise.
  • She rose up as he entered.

  • As she was not well, I went there alone.
  • As he is a tailor, he knows what to do with this material.

  • Child as he is, he knows a lot.
  • Hard as it was raining, they went on working in the field.

  • You should do as the teacher tells you.
  • The absence of air also explains why the stars do not seem to twinkle in space as they do from the earth.

  • He doesn't work as hard as I (do).
  • I hope the necklace was as good as the one you lent me.

because、since、as、for 有何区别

  • As he wasn't ready in time, we went without him.
  • Since we have no money, it's no good thinking about a holiday.

  • The ground is wet, [for/because] it rained last night.
  • It must have rained last night, for the ground is wet this morning.

like 与 as 的区别

  • Like me, she enjoys all kinds of music.
  • She enjoys all kinds of music, as I do.

  • Nobody understands him [like/as] I do.

  • He worked as a slave.
  • He worked like a slave.
  • She worked as a teacher for many years.
  • Our doctor always talks to me like a teacher talking to a child.

  • He ate like a beast.
  • She can eat like a horse and never put on weight.

  • He used his umbrella as a weapon.
  • Please don't use that knife as a screwdriver.

when、while 及 as 有何区别

  • He fell asleep when/while/as he was reading.

... + year + ago

adv.

  • I bought the computer two years ago.
  • He said they had left five days before.
  • He must have left a week ago.
  • I had thought that he had died at least 20 years ago.
