the + evenings + 以 when 开头的定语从句

evenings

Morning(上午)指从日出到正午。

afternoon(下午)指从正午到日落或下午工作结束。

evening(晚上)指从日落到一天工作的结束或就寝。

在口语中打招呼时,通常用good [morning/afternoon/evening]等。

  • Good morning! How are you doing?
  • Good evening, everybody.
  • Good afternoon. Terrible weather, isn't it?

  • Morning, George.
  • Afternoon, Diana.
  • I'll be back in the afternoon.
  • An hour in the morning is worth two in the evening.

  • He visited her on a rainy morning.
  • We met on a cold afternoon in early spring.

  • Afternoon came, and it was time for them to leave.
  • It happened towards evening the next day.
  • When morning came, I found that she had left.

比较: Night began to fall.

on a cold winter eveningone cold winter evening同义,均表示在一个寒冬的下午

  • Plenty of shops open on Sunday mornings.
  • Some people work best in the mornings, and others do better in the evenings.

  • I only work mornings.
  • Afternoons, he works at home.
  • He goes out drinking most evenings.

  • You must get up earlier in the morning.
  • Generally she remained in on Sunday evening.

  • He arrived in the early morning of April the first.

  • He didn't come back until yesterday afternoon.
  • By tomorrow afternoon I ought to have finished the job.`

而不能直译为every day morningone day evening等。

during + sth.

prep. 在...的时候

during 的用法及与 for、in 的区别

During he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.

正:While he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.

正:During his stay in Paris, he lived with his friends.

during 与 for 的区别

  • He was in hospital for six weeks during the summer.

He stayed there for/during the whole summer.

误:He stayed there for/during all the summer.

  • He lived here for ten years.
during 与 in 的区别

  • I'll be on holiday in/during August.
  • He woke up three times in/during the night.

  • Many people suffered hardship during the war.
  • He was injured in the war.

  • The phone rang during the meal.
  • I went to see my aunt during my stay in Beijing.

  • In summer we often camp in the forest.
  • During the summer we camped in the forest.

  • Who is that fast asleep boy?
  • The boy asleep over there is my nephew.
